The Kandahar Building – a new development completed in Autumn 2006 - lies at the heart of the village and is blessed with exceptional views of the Mont Blanc mountain chain and, in particular, of the spectacular Aiguille du Midi. The apartment is ideally positioned at the foot of the men’s downhill course, providing virtually ski-in, ski-out accommodation for skiers of intermediate level and above. The Bellevue cable car is 50 yards from the front door, as is the bus stop serving Chamonix and other ski areas. Despite its obvious peace and tranquility, Les Houches boasts plenty of shops and restaurants - beneath the apartment, guests will find the ESF ski school and a gourmet deli abundant with local produce; a stroll takes you past the local boulangerie, bars and creperie.

The apartment is fully Wi-Fi accessible (let us know if you need the password to connect), and has a large DVD library to suit all ages.  There are also a wide range of games, from chess to bridge, Articulate to Cluedo, Monopoly to Perudo and Scrabble to Uno.  After a long day in the mountains, though, you might simply want to flop onto the FatBoy on the balcony and gaze at the view.... 

The main living/dining area has a balcony on two sides, both with views up the valley towards Chamonix (click on 'Views' for pictures). In summer, and on warm spring skiing days, the east-facing balcony is perfect for eating lunch outside.  On colder winter evenings, the wood-fired stove blasts out the heat.  As a new build, the heating system is also very efficient, and can be regulated in each room.  The kitchen has microwave, hob, oven, dishwaser, coffee maker, etc.

This is our home from home in the Alps, a place to unwind, to explore big hills, breathe big air, and gaze at big skies.  We have filled the apartment with great furniture, bedding, hi-fi, DVD and kitchen equipment.  We wish to share these with family and friends who will treat the place with a little care and attention.  We know stuff gets broken, it does in any home.  But if you could replace anything that does get dropped, dunked or ditched, we'd really appreciate you finding an item of similar quality.  Thank you.
